Memories of Childhood: A short poem

Often times I smile and sigh

and wonder how the time goes by.

I see the clouds that once were bright

have turned to gray and fade toward night

And children then would find such pleasure

in simple things, in simple measure

And now their growth to strong men blur

and still I see them as they were

I hear the giggles of the child

and miss small bodies and their smiles.

Oh how their youth has taken flight

I miss their kisses every night

The tender touch of little hands

For I grow old as time demands

It’s when time starts to scrapes the soul

that long lost memories unfold
