Shadows on the Wall

How delicately the candlelight flickers on the wall

A careless dance of light and dark with the rise and fall

Of shadow ghosts that tell their tale without a single word

Of lives and loves and haunting dreams they have overheard.

And with the rise of sunny light the shadows disappear

Blocked by the new arrival of our futures far and near

With the coming of the light the brightness clears our mind

To overcome the fading shadows and leave the past behind.

And with the falling of the night, the shadows once again

Bid goodbye to the future of what might have been

But being soft and sleeping well we let the shadows play

And let the future join our rising in the coming day.
